The Yehayhay is a radiant spirit, gifted with an unshakeable ability to find the good in everyone and everything. While some dismiss the creature as an oddball with its strange flippers and stunted wings incapable of flight, the Yehayhay loves its many quirks.
For this creature sees every detail of the world as a marvel to be experienced and, as a result, every moment is a celebration.
At its heart the Yehayhay is a collector and a curator of its own personal stash of joy. It is often found admiring a piece of art, shiny object or anything that captures its desire.
From the creepy to the cute it matters not. I have watched the Yehayhay clasp objects with its flippers and gaze in deep wonder its newfound treasure.
It relishes the perfections that make it special, and the imperfections that make it quirky and more unique.
Then it draws the item close to itself in a magical embrace, absorbing it into its skin to make it literally part of itself. When it does, its tail glows ever more brightly, broadcasting its joy and positivity to all those around.
It revels in this moment and shouts a barking sound similar to, “Hey, Hey, Hey” to broadcast its joy to those around it. Time and again, I have witnessed this intimate act at gatherings of lovers of art, creative content, objects and imagination.
With the right kind of eyes, or specialised monster-hunting lenses, you can often see Yehayhay slithering around stalls, admiring everything it sees and lighting the room with its gleeful glow. I found the light to be calming and motivating at the same time and lingering in the presence of a Yehayhay allows one to feel at ease with oneself and their quirks.
In its glow, my own fears and hidden hesitations about sharing and embracing my passions faded away. My fears of keeping parts of myself hidden due to what of others may have thought vanished. If I find joy in something, whatever it is, I should embrace that and share my passion openly. Hiding it away was only restricting the joy I could experience myself.
The ultimate lesson I learned observing the Yehayhay is to be yourself unapologetically. Cherish what you love and enjoy and embrace who you truly are. Embrace your passions, your artistic tastes, your lifestyle whatever that may be, for the more wonder you can see in these things, the more wonder, in turn, you will see in the world around you. Like the Yehayhay does.
