Twisterpop

In a shadowed retreat through time, where regret lingers like a forgotten whisper, lives the helpful, but enigmatic, creature known as the Twisterpop. These creatures intersect with humans in moments so brief but, if one is willing to listen, can make a lasting impression.

Twisterpop are the embodiment of the struggles we make with our daily choices. Their presence is felt whenever sudden clarity of a past mistake is realised. Imagine, if you will, lying in bed, heart heavy with the weight of an unspoken word or missed choice when the best, and correct, way to have acted suddenly appears as if by magic.

Yet, as hope flickers, we are forced to accept the bitter truth. The moment to act has passed. Slipped by like the Twisterpop that provided it and all that remains are the consequences. made all the worse knowing there was a solution.

This is unintended on the Twisterpop's behalf. For this creature is cursed to a twisted, and ironic fate. The creature possesses future foresight of immense power but, unlike the rest of us, it is living its life backwards through time, dancing from the end of the world back towards its primordial beginnings.

Therein lies the peculiarity of these immortal creatures' curse. What the Twisterpop views as visions of 'what is to come' they are, for everyone else, visions of what has already been.

They are helpful and benevolent souls seeking to help creatures in a state of quagmire. They flit on the air on gossamer wings, or use their powerful claws to clamber up rooftops to scan the world below. Its finely-tuned eyes can see thoughts, particularly those that are the cause of heavy pondering.

It then acts. Its flower-like horn unfolds to release spores that entwine its consciousness with the troubled target allowing it to share "visions of the future". Using its superior intellect, it can 'peek' into possible futures, calculate alternate possibilities like a clairvoyant and reveal the best course of action.

Its elongated snout whispers the actions supersonically before it vanishes, like the moment, content it has illuminated the path forward, leaving behind a trail of spores as it continues its backwards march.

Unbeknownst to the Twisterpop, this act of benevolence causes frustration from the target, at least, at first. The frustration of suddenly realising there was a correct path in the previous error, or the perfect words that could have made your point had you only connected the dots earlier.

These thoughts have caused many humans to revile the Twisterpop but we should not judge them so hastily, for we learn another lesson. To forgive past mistakes and live in the moment more, and forgive ourselves. We do not possess the future sight of a Twisterpop and to err, well, is human.

So let go of the mistakes of the past as mistakes are the forges that fuel our future growth and remind us how to avoid future mistakes as we move forwards.

While the Twisterpop is often left heartbroken to see us repeat the mistakes it warned us against and ponder why we never acted on the information it so helpfully provided.

This spurs it to find another person to help and continue its cyclic action through time.
